Ask and Ye Shall Find

The publisher I work for, David Gray, passed on a great tip I’d like to share.

When I got my new Kindle, I asked David if he knew how I could download e-books from the public library onto my electronic reading device.

“Go to your internet search engine and pose the question– using the same wording you’ve just asked me.”

I went to my search engine (I happen to use Bing) and typed in the following question:“How do I download library books on to my Kindle?”— phrased exactly as if I were asking David out loud.

Here’s what came up:

Got my answer.

This easy technique of asking simple, conversationally-worded questions via Bing, Google, etc.  is a great way to learn a lot about book publicity. Try typing these questions into your own internet search engine and see what you get:

  1. Where can I find a list of radio stations in [insert name of city]?
  2.  How can I increase the traffic to my blog?
  3.  What are some tips for writing a good news release?
  4. How does Facebook help an author sell books?
  5. How do I submit my book for review?

Click on the links for easy answers to some of these PR basics. You’ll be amazed at how much you can learn.
